This is the second noir film I have watched in my lifetime, and definitely the best I've seen. The acting was wonderful, the score quite exceptional, and the film was above average where cinematography was concerned (considering the technology they had). However, I felt the plot was a bit weak and was disappointed by the rather anticlimactic ending. I would've liked a more pronounced ending and a more striking mystery plot, but overall the film was enjoying to watch.

This movie rather lacked a coherent story, or sufficient character development. It seemed rushed, was rather vague even in plot points (if it can be said to have a plot), and seemed to focus a lot more on montage's of the characters eating and taking pills than it did actually explaining many if the story's events or the character's actions. The only reason this got a six from me was because the actors were good and the plot that did shine through the jumbled mess of scenes, showed potential. Maybe the book will be different.
